Handheld Infrared Pyrometer, Claus

The CLAUSTEMP® Model HIP Handheld Pyrometer is a great tool for troubleshooting temperature measurement issues and calibrating Claus reactor pyrometers. Use it to look into furnace sight ports and pyrometer lens windows. Dual wavelength ratiometric measurement ignores flames, partial nozzle obstructions or moderately coated lens windows to accurately measure refractory temperature.

Operation and Technology

The HIP is a useful tool for troubleshooting temperature measurement problems and for calibrating process pyrometers in a Claus reactors.

It is designed to look into the optical window of most process pyrometers and sight ports of Claus reactors to read the hot face temperature.

The HIP pyrometer uses infrared wavelengths that are unaffected by combustion gases, allowing the pyrometer to measure refractory temperature while ignoring the effects of hot gases and flames. Dual wavelength sensing allows accurate temperature measurement even if the sight path is partially blocked by buildup or debris.
